Wirral Primary Mental Health Team CAMHS

About us

Our Wirral CAMHS Primary Mental Health team (PMHT) offer support and education to schools, colleges and local authority agencies around early intervention and prevention, promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.

What we offer

  • CAMHS Advice Line

The CAMHS Advice Line is open from 9am - 10pm and offers advice, strategies, resources and signpost to appropriate agencies. Available to any young person, parent or professional in the community. Consultations are written up and can be shared with parents or schools. All consultations are assessed against CAMHS moderate/severe mental health referral criteria. If threshold is reached referrals are made into CAMHS for a face to face choice appointment and anyone involved with the young person can continue to access the line prior to this face to face or post-discharge from services.

  • CAMHS Training Programme

Full annual training programme open to professionals and schools on various mental health related issues (Inc; Low Mood, Self-Harm & Suicide, Challenging Behaviour, Rainbow Circles (Theraplay based group), Next Step cards etc). Email wirralcamhstraining@cwp.nhs.uk

  • School Visits

We visit every school on the borough to assess support and training needs as well as discussing specific cases/young people with schools and families who are both pre-referral or referred and awaiting face-to-face contact.

  • Bespoke Training

We offer tailored training to meet the needs of local schools when specific issues are identified and fed back through school meetings.

  • Peer Education Project

We provide accredited Mental Health First Aid training to students and staff across Wirral. Students trained then cascade training to the wider student population within school through student-led and co-produced sessions.
