- Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CYPMHS) 0-18 teams
Based in Crewe, Macclesfield, Chester, Winsford and Wirral, teams work closely with professionals in the community to provide treatment and support to young people aged 0-18 that are experiencing mental health difficulties.
- Learning Disability Services
Based in Crewe, Macclesfield and Wirral, the teams work with young people up to the age of 18 who have a diagnosis of a severe or profound learning disability and behavioural difficulties.
- ADHD and Autism Services
Based in Macclesfield for ADHD and autism and Chester for autism, the team provides services for assessment and diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and ADHD treatment and medication monitoring, if required, in East Cheshire, and assessment and diagnosis of autism in East and West Cheshire.
- Eating Disorder Services
Based in Cheshire at Crewe, Macclesfield and Chester and Birkenhead.
The service supports young people between the ages of eight and 18. The team offers assessments and treatment for young people with anorexia, bulimia and atypical eating disorders (also known as eating disorders not otherwise specified).
- Intensive Support Function
The team are based at Catherine House in Crewe, however, are keen to use young peoples’ preferred environment, homes or educational provisions. The ISF is available across Cheshire East, and Cheshire West and Chester, working with children and young people with learning disabilities and/or autism, whose complex behavioural needs challenge their support system to the extent that there is a risk of hospital admission (or breakdown of their current placement).
- Mental Health Support Teams in schools
Mental Health Support Teams work in Cheshire and Wirral and carry out most of their work with children and families in the child’s school. In the MHSTs, children and young people’s wellbeing practitioners (CYWPs) and education mental health practitioners (EMHPs) offer support for mild to moderate mental health and wellbeing difficulties, and support education settings to develop their whole school approach to mental health.
- Emotionally Healthy Children and Young People Team

- Youth Justice Service
The team provide multi-agency and holistic working in a hard to reach group of young people who are part of the Youth Justice System. Bases are at Crewe, Macclesfield, Winsford and Chester.
- Urgent Support Team
Clinicians see people in Accident & Emergency departments, on hospital wards or in one of the bases at Crewe, Macclesfield, Winsford, Chester and Wirral.
The team offers mental health assessments to young people who are experiencing difficulties with their mental health or safety, provides mental health advice to colleagues in hospitals, signposts or refers young people on to appropriate community services, and provides intensive treatment for children and young people in mental health crisis, if required.
- Inpatient Services - Ancora House
Ancora House is our specialist inpatient unit for young people who are having difficulties with their thoughts, feelings or behaviour and need a short stay in hospital. Ancora House is based on the Countess of Chester Health Park near Bowmere Hospital.
- Cheshire and Merseyside Eating Disorder Service (CHEDS)
The Cheshire and Merseyside Adolescent Eating Disorder Service (CHEDS) is a specialist outpatient team that offers assessment, treatment, and support to young people (13-18 years of age) and families who are struggling with their eating disorder. The team are based on the hospital site of the Countess of Chester.
