Young Minds

Being Trans, Non-binary or questioning your gender in any way is not a mental health problem. Gender Incongruence Service

The Gender Incongruence Service for children and young people is a professional referral service only. Children and young people up to 16 years of age with features of gender incongruence as described in NHS England’s service specification can be referred into this service. Self-referrals cannot be accepted under any circumstances. Download and complete the referral and risk assessment forms on their website and send them to the Children and Young People’s Gender Incongruence National Referral Support Service at agem.cyp-gnrss@nhs.net

Mermaids

Mermaids provides a range of helpline services supporting transgender youth, up to and including the age of 25. They also support families and professionals. The helpline offers emotional support, a gateway to the parents and young people’s forums, information about current legislation and protections under the law, plus signposting to training and resources. The helpline is covered by volunteers between 9am and 9pm, Monday to Friday. Text Mermaids to 85258 or call 0808 801 0400.

New Horizons

New Horizons is an LGBT+ group running at Wallasey Youth Hub every Monday, providing a safe space, support, issue-based workshops and fun for lesbian, gay, bi, transgender, and questioning young people aged 13-19.  There is a separate support group for those aged 8-12 and parents (New Horizons Juniors).

WEB Merseyside

WEB Merseyside has a non-binary group where they will be running a variety of activities to promote positive mental health and behaviour whilst increasing self-esteem and confidence. Activities include self-defence, nurturing therapies, sports sessions, movie nights and more. The group will run on Tuesday evenings and is suitable for any young person aged 13 to 18 who does not identify as their birth gender.
