Our Learning Disability CAMHS team have created a variety of videos to help support better sleep for children, young people and families.
Good quality sleep is essential for health, wellbeing and learning. Yet, for many children, young people and families (CYPF), sleep can be a real challenge. In Cheshire and Wirral Partnership (CWP), we are working to make sleep support more accessible and practical for everyone who needs it.
Sleep is not just “rest.” It plays a key role in:
· Growth and development
· Emotional regulation
· Concentration and learning
· Physical and mental health
Poor sleep can make daily life harder for children and families alike. That’s why building healthy sleep habits, often called sleep hygiene is so important.
Through our webinars, we explore key areas that make a difference, including:
· Understanding sleep – how sleep works and why it matters
· Making changes – small, realistic steps you can try
· Bedtime routines – creating consistency to prepare the body and mind for rest
· Diet and sleep – how what we eat, and drink can help (or hinder) good sleep
· Sleep associations – breaking unhelpful habits and encouraging positive connections with bedtime
Our Training and Expertise
Our LD CAMHS Nurses have completed Sleep Practitioner training with the Sleep Charity. Our Clinical Support Workers have undertaken the Sleep Success Workshop with the Sleep Charity. We provide specialist sleep support to children with severe learning disabilities, where challenges can be particularly complex. This specialist training ensures that our team can deliver evidence-based, practical advice tailored to families’ needs.
Improving Access Through Webinars
LD CAMHS offer sleep programmes across SEN schools in Cheshire, including:
- Dee Banks
- Dorin Park
- Hebden Green
- The Russett
- Springfield
- Park Lane
To widen access beyond these schools and LD CAMHS families, we created a series of sleep webinars available to all children, young people and families using CWP Services. These webinars are designed to share knowledge, strategies and encouragement in a flexible way, so families can join from the comfort of home.
Better sleep means better days.
By working together, we can help children and families build healthier routines, reduce stress and improve wellbeing.
